You’ll normally find us shooting commercial work for DC Corporate Headshots but this weekend we had the opportunity to get back to our roots and shoot some sports. We had the pleasure of working directly with Nike as they sponsored a goodman League vs Drew League basketball game in Washington DC. The Goodman League touted NBA stars Kevin Durant, John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, Ty Lawson,  Sam Young and Gary Neal while the Drew League had James Harden, Brandon Jennings, JaVale McGee and DeMar DeRozan.

A last-second heave from James Harden fell short, giving D.C.’s Goodman League all-stars a thrilling 135-134 victory over Los Angeles’ Drew League all-stars in front a sell-out crowd (and then some) at Trinity University in Washington D.C.

Over the last 3-4 weeks I’ve been very busy in my role as Corporate Headshot Photographer for DC Corporate Headshots. After completing a major project during the Q1 ’11, where we started and finished an international photo campaign for a major law firm, shooting 850+ lawyers in 19 different offices it’s nice to be back “home” for a few months with no major travel on the calendar.

Every day, we work with different law firms, lobbying firms, consultants, realtors, and people in business to create a new or updated image that they love. It’s a blast for me. I’m constantly working on improving my techniques and methods, and testing new gear (I’m in love with my new acquired Think Tank Shape Shifter backpack) along with additions to my Elinchrom family of lighting gear.

Being back in town also allowed me to attend the NPPA’s Business Blitz during their first stop in Washington DC. This new NPPA program is designed to offer a variety of topics to help freelance photographers enhance their technical skills while building a profitable, sustainable photography business.
